Your opinion on used figures? [POLL]Your opinion on used figures? [POLL]Ask MFC

I want to ask fellow collectors what you think about used figures. Do you prefer to buy your figures brand new, untouched or are you okay with used with slight damage for a slightly lower cost? (POLL below)

What I think: I prefer my figures brand new, sealed but if the used price is reasonable taking into consideration the damage (like minor paint scratch, etc) I think I will be okay with used figures. However I do sometimes find myself yearning for the perfect version of my used figures with no damage.
And sometimes right out of the box, a figure may have minor damages. Would you okay with that depending on how severe the damage is? For me, it's 50-50 but of course I'll be upset since it isn't perfect or close to perfect right out of the box.

What do you think about it?

Landsknecht Take my revolution ...
I absolutely don't mind used figures as long as they were cared for and don't have any serious damage or missing parts that I care about. I think I kind of prefer them really. Sometimes I feel vaguely guilty about buying a sealed figure from someone and opening it, like I'm spoiling how careful they were not to open it. ^^()

MyauNei5 år siden#2498113Ah, no, I am sorry. I did understand your poll question as you meant it to refer to purchases. I actually did mean to say "I'm OK with buying one." (The rest of my response was just a remark that, despite being open to buying them, none of the used ones I've purchased have actually been heavily damaged -- even a few graded "C" by Amiami.)

Ah okay gotcha. I have never bought a C or heavily damaged figure before. Maybe if I can find a cheap one with C damage on AmiAmi, I'll try it out one of these days (or months... years...). If it's a figure I'm semi-interested in.

I'm fine with buying used figures as long as they still look good on display. :) I got my Homura nendoroid for a cheaper price because she was used and her glasses were broken, but I didn't care because I wasn't intending on keeping her displayed with them on anyway.

MeepMoop5 år siden#2497643Ah, so breaking figures on your own is okay lol. Jokes aside, my question was more along the lines of purchasing a used figure. Apologies for the confusion and I will reword the POLL question.

MyauNei5 år siden#2497594I'm the only one that was OK with "heavily damaged" so far! (0.41% of the 243.) Not that I prefer more damage to less damage, per se, but I figured I'm "OK" with owning one. However, the only heavily damaged figure I have so far is from my own fault. I knocked poor Senbonzakura Miku (ITEM #166951) off a table -- only two feet, but unfortunately onto a keyboard on the floor -- and her right-side hair tails snapped right off. Still need to get around to repairing that somehow.

I tend to buy everything new, but used is fine if I can't find it new, or it's way cheaper. Preferably not with damage, though box damage doesn't really bother me.

Im okay with used figures.
as long as the figure is in excellent condition. and the price is good.
I don't mind if the box is a bit damaged. the box is not that important after all.

I have a few figures I bought used, but not many because to be honest most of the ones I really want that I didn't preorder when I had the chance are now so expensive on the secondary market that I'm just not willing to pay what they're going for. I have no problem with used figures though, as long as they're in good condition, and I've sold many of my own figures on to new owners.

Haha, I'd say that definitely reasonable to be careful with those for good reasons. I'm sure buying new would almost always be the best option for those particular figures; but I think Bikini figures are okay though (I hope, gulp).

HEY NOW..!!!
