Tsume X-tra PAIN repair help (・_・;)Tsume X-tra PAIN repair help (・_・;)

Hi everybody! ^___^

Thank your for taking some time and reading this request for help ^^;;
I recently purchased Tsume's 1/10 scale Pain figure item/105063#tab... second hand. The figure is luckily in great condition, apart from a super freaky finger issue on his right hand O__O

As you can see, it's pretty weirdly bent and I'd really like to fix it if possible. I've read about the method of heating up the plastic and bending it into the right position multiple times, but I'm seriously afraid to do that, since I'm afraid of damaging the figure permanently.

Sooo... I'm asking you to guide me through this and please forgive my anxious questions ^^;;
- How do I heat up the plastic in the right manner? Warm or hot water?
- For how long should I dip his fingers into it?
- Could the paint get off during the process?
- Will I be able to just gently bend the fingers or do I have to be more forcefully?
- Do I have to dip the fingers into cold water after that?
- Anything else I have to consider?

Sorry for the massive asking, but the figure is supposed to be a birthday gift for my boyfriend who l o v e s this character and I've been searching Pain for so long, that I really want everything to be right (easpecially THAT pose V_V).

Thank you a lot in advance <(_ _)>

I have this figure myself, and had a similar issue. I would recommend warm water, but not boiling! Dip his fingers into the water for about 5-10 seconds then reshape his fingers as needed. Immediately put his fingers under cold running water to set the plastic back to a non-malleable state. Don't use any additional chemical agents.

You don´t need to worry since the hand is casted in colored pvc, so wirst case is that you could damage the "nailpolish" he is wearing.

i also recommend a hairdryer.
dont use the hottest temp, middle temperature should do.
heat it up evenly from different angles.
you can test every now and then if its enough by trying to gently bent the fingers (dont use force here, slight pressure is enough for thin parts)
after you bent them the way they should be and they seem to stay in that position, dip the hand in cold water for a few seconds, like youd do with a boiled egg.
if the part is still too cold while attemping to bent, it will automatically bent back the way it was, then you need to heat it up abit longer.

i did this with a few leaning figures, or hair parts that werent placed correctly.
as long as you dont use maximum temperatur for too long or hold the figure literlly into the opening of the hairdryer, nothing should happen.

I'm not so sure about putting my figure in warm water since it may damage the painting but since it's just his hand it might be fine. You might wanna put him in the freezer for an hour or so after shaping the plastic just to make sure. Also use some paper tape to hold it in the place otherwise the fingers might just go back to the previous shape.

Yes, I also heard about the blow dryer method, but that sounds even more frightening to me, since a hair dryer can get super hot and I find it harder to control (my worrying probably sounds so ridiculous XD) Thank you very much though for the tips (especially the tape thingy)! :D
