IKEA, I have found is the place to get my money worth and looks really nice.

To give the Detolfs some height as the bottom shelf is too low, I bought a KALLAX shelf (4 cubbies), placed 3 Detolfs on it (it holds 3 detolf cases) and I can put 2 tapestries behind the detolf cases to have a “background” instead of my wall.
The little door tab is a bit higher for me, but I can still reach it without trouble.

I do recommend the Detolfs as they look nice, easy to put together (I use gloves to prevent fingerprints)
I don’t recommend shipping them however.

    Hope this helps some

Helsing (1 år siden) #32215734Ikr , 59,90 € detolf and 99,90 € shipping here. kappa That's a wee bit better than their $300+ shipping estimate to me but still a LOT...I mean you pay 3x the cost of the item in order to be able to get it (and when they quoted me $300 for shipping I even sent them screenshots of shipping prices if I were to have those same items shipped myself at FedEx and/or UPS and it was WAY cheaper... $300 is a total ripoff...not to mention with them being a company they also likely get some kind of discounted rate that me as an individual would not be able to get). Oh well different brand and Amazon it is for me.

Stacycmc (1 år siden) #32213502So after MUCH research, I will agree Ikea is the way to go if you have one locally (it's a 7 hour drive to the closest Ikea for me). You can get a brand new one for $59 before taxes. They were going to charge me like $300 to ship it though...beyond laughable, but another story.
I held off buying for a WHILE trying to find something locally, but nothing within "pickup" range carries anything close to an actual detolf where I live. I just purchased something similar from Amazon for $120 shipped, but that was the cheapest I could find (and that includes scouring through classifieds and such trying to find a second hand option). I should have mine delivered this weekend, so will put some pics up once I get it all set up.
This is what I ended up with, as I wanted mostly glass so the focus is on the figures not a piece of furniture:

Amazon also sells the Ikea detolfs, MUCH cheaper than what Ikea will ship it to you for (i.e. >$360 for me), but it's still like $180-$200 on Amazon...but either way that's hard to swallow when you know you can walk into the store and buy it outright for around $70. Others on MFC have the Amazon shelving I linked as well (i.e. the one I bought), so it came recommended for folks that don't have a local Ikea.

The cheapest way is to find someone selling locally. We bought 2 for $40, already built and delivered to our house. Otherwise, Ikea is your best bet, yes.

Yes, it is cheapest at IKEA. Additionally, it is better to pick it up than to ship it to you because shipping will cost more than the actual product.
