Cloudberry (2 måneder siden) #74997738Huh, I always wondered the origin of the figure was from... I always thought his hat looks fricking awesome... unfortunately it's not practical in the real world unless I just wear it and own it (or cosplay)
What bugs me a lot is his crouch area... it just lacks the bulge and the seam that runs down the middle of that area.
Glad you still love him, even though he was overpriced
It does and for figures outfits definitely have to be practical (one thing I love about the hobby). :3
Yeah, the crotch area... at least I got a replacement for the misaligned one and that's definitely nice (got almost a whole new figure after all), but well... I still expected more from a line that boasts being the best of the best.
Considering that I got excellent customer service maybe he wasn't all that overpriced, but then again if they had proper QC in the first place that wouldn't have been necessary. ┐(´~`)┌

broken-Toybox (5 måneder siden) #68191368Hey, I’m alright with that you know, I’ll probably be even worse from now on since I have to resume my studies. X3
And you can’t do that before you’re in your forever home? Would moving with her be that much of a pain if you glued her together now? I mean she is really cute and special with that set-up, but won’t you grow sick of re-attaching stuff all the time?
I never really had that feeling, because even when I have the opportunity to sleep enough, my boyfriend still works and rises early and try as he might, he always wakes me. X3
And napping… well, it’s just not the same (always makes me even more tired than before).
If you feel like you want to do a tour does it really matter if it’s a “half-assed” one though?
How soon do you plan to move anyway? If it’s in the near future maybe unpacking shouldn’t even be your first priority right now.
That’s my plan as well, but then I always find something nice and try to redo my display in my head all over again. -_-
No, Rorona was. X3 How did you arrive at that assumption. X3 I like it, especially that you don’t have a fixed schedule, but I don’t really have the time to play right now. -_-
View spoilerHide spoilerI really don’t know if they even give a proper explanation, so far I haven’t encountered anything like that. Not sure what I should hope for either. X3
I have some low quality items of favorite characters too ofc (like that Cu Chulainn trading figure), but in general I tend to be extremely fussy when I think my dear favorite character isn’t portrayed well or the manufacturer didn’t “try” hard enough. Recent examples would be ITEM #638638, ITEM #638637, ITEM #674106 and ITEM #674103. I love 10 Count to bits and I didn’t expect masterpieces from FREEing, but wow did I feel let down after opening them. Even the Nendos have such subpar quality that I can’t bear to keep them (and with the upcoming anime there’s other merch to pick from luckily). Maybe I’m just fussy in general, but I feel that gets amplified the more I love a character (after all I even sold Myethos’s Holo because she didn’t meet my expectations).
I recently cancelled those Native 1/8 Bunnies ITEM #676105 & ITEM #676104 too after seeing some pictures and how sloppily certain parts were painted…
    View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1566245298.jpeg
As you can see I still have her on display, but I’ll sell her to a friend (for a bargain…). I feel so let down with her (and I took a long time to pull the trigger too). The parts don’t fit together, you literally can’t fully close her dress (or her panties for that matter) and her hair goes into her arm on one side, which looks abysmal. To top it off the paintjob is mediocre (her hair looks especially dull and flat) and the base feels cheap. Honestly, the best thing about the whole figure might be the hat.
Well, no fixed release date yet. X3
About your question, I got a feeling they’re all true to some degree, but while I do have a shelf with just Nendos and spaces for certain characters I feel like it’s mostly aesthetics I go for.

I wanted to have a sort of dollhouse for my Nendos in the beginning too, but I just have way too many for that and no space to put it anyway, so they’re strewn around now.
You sure get a lot of bang for your buck with her considering all the parts and the quality is fine too. Getsuyoubi no Tawawa got a short anime some time ago and for an Ecchi show it’s surprisingly cute and funny. :3
Akari is great and the series is too, but maybe it just isn’t popular enough? Not that I’d complain about that, apart from the “mimimi, I want some other characters…”
Wow, I didn’t know that bit about Griffon. I feel like nowadays people are easy to complain about them or damn them even without complaining or caring about anything beyond that (though that goes for a lot of other stuff too). -_-

Seems like you didn't get worse, so I hope your studies are going well? :P LOL!

Well, if I glue that figure, she can't fit back into her original box anymore, which means it's a huge risk with every small movement the figure is going to make from that moment on. >.< Right now my situation is that I will temporary be in a tiny apartment for probably 3-6 months until we get a more permanent place. And whatever that place is going to be, I'm going to unpack all my figures and re-evaluate the choices about that Ink LOL. By the way, we've been talking about Moetan figures quite a lot, but did you ever think about getting an Ink yourself? :)

I think my quality of sleep will improve in Finland because with at least the temporary apartment I know it's super well isolated warmth-wise, I never felt so relaxed with temperature in a house before. :O

Well, I never ended up doing that half-assed tour because the packing needed to be done in quite a high pace with my move. So the thought of doing a tour never even crossed my mind and only this comment reminded me LOL.

Argh, sorry! No clue why I thought that! Then the game must be excellent to have Rorona and co. returning. :3 Did you have the time to play it more in the meantime?

Ah yikes, bad to hear about all those 10 Count figures being disappointing. :( Did you end up keeping them in the end? And about the Nendo's, yegh I think it's what we talked about before: Their quality getting lower overall... And Native seems to do more misses with their smaller sized figures for some reason...

Your spoilered picture is not working, but reading the description it was about ITEM #740522 ? I looked in the general pictures of the figure her page and saw yours there: Never noticed the weird hair on the arm, looks like it's to hide the seamline of the casted arm, but maaan, that is not cool considering the price of this figure. Hopefully at least your friend likes her?

Okay, so now we can finally talk about the released Rorona Nendoroid! Not much out there yet for the figure, 1 user picture and 1 comment mentioning the paint is a bit sloppy. Looking at: PICTURE #2333222 the eye decals indeed seem a bit lower quality and I also see multiple small paint mishaps. I guess she also feels underwhelming for me as I have ITEM #61401 to stare at. ^^'' By the way, this made me look up ITEM #397137 again and I guess we can assume it's cancelled now.

Ooooh! Your Nendo living room is so cute! Looks like multiple of those small furniture pieces are IKEA? :)

I also didn't realize you got multiple acrylic figures! I got my first one recently, I'm still not really sure what to think of the item type, haha! It's a nice and crisp view of the artwork, but it takes in a lot of space of what could have been a 3D figure?

I like the books and bottles with your alchemy/fantasy themed display. :) I have been thinking with some collections of mine that are quite 'permanent' to also involve background items more. For example I recently acquired ITEM #917908 and my desktop background in the last 10 years (if not more) has been at least 50% of the time:

    https://images2.alphacoders.com/733/thumb-1920-73312.jpg

So I've been thinking of 'throwing' the cards around like that in my Baccano! shelf as well. Maybe use something to temporarily glue them together a bit more. I want the characters that are couples cutely lying next to eachother. ^///^

Yeah I think with both they are good series, but not great audience hits. Although it's way harder for any anime to be a 'hit' nowadays with the huge amount of series that floods the market every season. :P

Uhuh, not only figures, but a lot of people will have a negative opinion about something right away because of one negative review somewhere. With Griffon I feel like a lot of it is parroting, it has become sort of an inside joke to dislike figures manufactured by Griffon so people will just say that without ever owning or seeing one in person. Although I do have to say...Griffon did messsss up some figures pretty badly though. :P It was a strange company overall. After they quit the figure business, they started selling gemstones. While they did the gemstones, they hopped onto selling 3D-printer-ready models of original characters (probably making use of all the sculptors they knew from before to make these?). Now they have disappeared. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But, now that I am rambling about Griffon! I managed recently to get multiple of their older Garage Kits from one of my favorite characters: ITEM #5892 and ITEM #8242 . The first one is cute (and big!) and the second one is heavily impressive with the huge amount of parts!

Maakie (6 måneder siden) #67819455Nahh, right now I'm pretty sure I'm the worst one of us two LOL. I also don't think it will change anytime soon unfortunately. :P But I promise I'll always respond! ^^
With ITEM #284 I just hope that at one point I'll feel like I'm in a 'forever home' and maybe just glue her together. :P I love the whole base and diorama-idea of the figure, but even if she's properly assembled, it's like there is a timer on this figure of a couple of days before parts need to get re-attached. ^^''
Heh, sounds like the last time I was jobless. I suddenly had 'enough time' to properly sleep and after a couple of weeks I thought to myself "Huh, so this is how it feels to be properly rested?". Like, I would catch up in the weekends of sleep I missed during the week, but it was never enough. It wasn't that I felt really tired during being employed or anything, it was just that the moment I got so much time off and could rest well it was "so this is how my body is supposed to feel like in natural condition?". :P
I'm 99% sure that I will move before my figure room in this house will be completed. So maybe I should do an "half assed tour" before I would pack up the stuff LOL. When I moved into this house I told myself it would be high priority to unpack my figures for the room, but life got so busy. >.< It helps that in the last few years I barely bought new stuff and all the required furniture is there, so for my next place I should really be able to set it up faster... >.<
Yeah a goal for my final display is to not have leftover shelves. So non-fitting figures either get sold off or they get companions to be put together. :)
Oh! So Lulua is your first Atelier game ever? How are you liking it so far? I read some reviews about how it's gameplay-wise a good start for people new in the franchise, but you might miss quite a bit of backstory considering it's mainly returning characters in the cast? View spoilerHide spoilerI'm not sure if the game has any kind of explanation for Rorona being her mom, but I personally hope that she's Rorona's first 100% succesfull Homunculus. :)
For me it depends. I have quite a bit of 'low quality' collectibles from older franchises I like. I would want those figures to be better, but I know there won't be any better ones, so I'll just love whatever is out there from the franchise (for example: BLOG #38606 ) and am not too fussed about defects as I was pretty much expecting to get into that. But figures that I would purely buy for aesthetic reasons that have flaws, I have a lot harder time to accept that. It's also one of the factors I stopped with 18+ figures which are mainly original characters. But with your story, yikes, I had no idea ITEM #740522 was that bad?! I saw her up in online stores a few times, but never saw user pictures until you pointed me to her item page just now. I see you still have her listed as 'owned' so I guess she is put on display a bit at the back of your collection? :P Was the main reason for you disliking her the assembly or something else?
Oh that's a really cute fun fact with your last name! :D
Well, Rorona's Nendoroid will release in about a month, so probably the next time we speak we can talk about how it turned out. xD About you ordering so much Nendoroids nowadays: It does make me curious if you have a specific Nendoroid shelf/cabinet in your collection or do you display the Nendoroid on the shelf together with other characters from the franchise/scaled figures with similar aesthetic? Most of my Nendoroids are from Strike Witches and I'm thinking on making character-specific shelves right now rather than the earlier ideas I had to have a sort of diorama/dollhouse for all my Nendoroids together.
Oh yeah I heard good things about ITEM #549861 ! (I don't know anything about the franchise she is from, though.) That figure seems to be a lot of value for money. :P ITEM #604432 seems pretty adorable as well. Both of them don't seem to be very popular GSC figures, though? So these two might escaped the "rush releasing" they are doing for more popular franchises?
Griffon was pretty specific in which licenses they picked up, same as Ques Q. From what I understand Griffon did a lot of things to 'cut costs' such as re-using their bases, and switching sculptors and manufacturing plants a lot. So they were never really an established manufacturer, but instead a company where some finished figurs were ready to go into the trash right away and others were small masterpieces. Really a manufacturer to first check out reviews before buying anything... I feel really lucky my favorite characters getting Griffon figures were in the 'good releases' department of that company!

She looks very cute though, but the way you describe her sounds kinda lukewarm to me (forgive me if I’m wrong). That’d be indeed quite similar to my feelings about that Saber. Though right now I’m keeping her because I don’t know how my collection will look ultimately… not hat I’ll ever be finished but I’ve got certain plans right now where I need to wait for some figures to be released.
I only ever sold on MFC so I’m not sure about competition and all that, never had any (serious) problems though and since I set my prices with European shipping included (at least when I’m selling scales)…
The weird thing is that people get used to busy times really fast and when you’re on vacation or something it can drive you nuts (happened to me a few times). X3 Glad to hear that you like your new job btw. :3
Yeah, that’s true but that’s something I really want to do and it bothers me that I always just push it back. Sometimes it makes me feel like an excuse not to do the room tour. -_-
I’m not a fan of “leftover” shelves in general because they look so random and careless, but right now she’s standing in a corner of my Shiki display where you can’t see her all that well. That’s sad too. :/
I haven’t played all Atelier games but my boyfriend got me Atelier Lulu and the first thing I googled was exactly that View spoilerHide spoilerstill not sure whether Lulua is supposed to be adopted or if there’s a father though… and if there is…. Who is it?
I kind of get that and I kind of don’t. I had negative feelings during reviews as well and I’m pretty upfront about it (examples would be Arsene and Mew/Mewtwo etc) and I think it’s fair to voice your dissatisfaction. This hobby isn’t cheap, and you should be able to expect a certain level of quality. Then again I’m one of those people that can be aware of flaws and still love something, not only figures, but things like media as well, just because I’m a fan doesn’t mean I’ll turn a blind eye to flaws and praise it to the skies. If you mention the bad parts (and not doing so is dishonest imo), your readers, especially in this hobby, are mostly grown-ups able to make their own decisions. I kinda just want to help make “informed” decisions (what a long text for so little content). Can’t say I never skipped a review though, I intended to review ITEM #740522 but after removing the protective plastic I wanted to throw her out of the window…
Kirara Fantasia is actually a sort of cross-over mobile game borrowing characters from different shows and not the one they develop in New Game. X3
It’s not really that I like hedgehogs (though they are adorable), but my last name is the German word for hedgehog.
Most Nendoroids aren’t that bad when it comes to QC, I still order way too many of them and most are ok. Still who knows how if that’ll still hold true when Rorona releases.
At the time of writing my most recent GSC figure should’ve been ITEM #604432 and she is great (not perfect, but good enough), by now I also got ITEM #549861 whose quality is also pretty good (and you get lots of parts for an affordable price (paid even less since she was a sale item)).
I’ve read your review ofc and she looks good indeed (great work btw), but Griffon is (or should I say “was”?) one of those manufacturers that doesn’t really cater to my interests (similar to Ques Q). I doubt Ill ever be able to gauge their quality.

Maakie (8 måneder siden) #64615548Hello! Remember me? xD Life got so busy pffftt. I'm wondering when my time of being done with backlogged comments will come. :')
I'm not sure if we talked about this figure before, but your feelings sound similar to my thoughts about ITEM #284 . She isn't damaged, bt a huge spacehog and horrible to assemble. I've had her in storage for a really long time and while I'm unboxing my collection, I'm literally saving that one up as being one of the last ones because I just don't want to think about assembling her. :')
Yeah, and how is selling the items you don't want anymore for you? The anime community seems bigger in Germany and German shipping is also a lot cheaper, but I guess the competition for selling is also higher?
My new job is good! It's a lot more managable than my previous jobs, but I'm still not used to the low amount of free time, combined with all the paperwork we are still doing for my husband. >.< I'm looking forward to more laidback times, ahahah. ^^''
Hehe, yeah I remember from earlier room tours I would wait until I moved to a new place to do one, because I otherwise was never feeling like it was 'finished', there is always a shelf or 2 under construction or something that does not feel complete unless a couple of (pre-)orders come in. xD
Yeah, that is my plan! :D Unbox current 'final' collection, then fix Aoba first, then unbox Ciel. And see how it all looks together. :)
I heard the same from so many other owners of that Rorona figure! She's a lovely figure, but so hard to display!! I don't want to put her on a 'random leftover' shelf as that would be sad for such a pretty figure, but right now I have no clue where to put her! >.< By the way, are you up to date with the Atelier franchise? I was surprised that with Atelier Lulua, View spoilerHide spoilerRorona is a mom now?!.
Yeah, but on the other hand I also understand reviewers not wanting to go 'too negative', but on the other hand you also shouldn't talk right about something that is not the quality you wanted, you're better off skipping blogging about it then to be honest. I know from victorviper that he skipped multiple figures he intended on reviewing (mainly prize figures) because of his negativity towards it and I think that is more fair than reviewing something and skipping over the bad parts.
Oh! I don't know much about New Game, but I guess Kirara Fantasia is the game they are making in New Game then? And you like hedgehogs too? :D Do you have one as a pet?
With Nendoroid quality nowadays I'm scared the Rorona Nendoroid will also not look that great in the final product. :S If I ever pick her up will depend on my final display shelves.
I think with GSC it's quite selective. If something is in a popular line or a 'flavor of the season' series, they seem to rush the release (and drop in quality) more than more unique pieces. Which one was the recent GSC you got that is nice quality?
I am currently proofreading a review that I am planning to upload tomorrow from an Griffon figure. One of their better ones in my opinion. You might like to read it. :) Griffon has a bit of a bad reputation, but some of their sculpts turned out really well! The figure from my review is 10+ years old, but it looks pretty good even for todays' standards.
Oh, dear no… who were you again? X3 Don’t worry about it, I’m way worse than that (with the last pm being a perfect example).

I doubt Ill ever be able to gauge their quality.

broken-Toybox (9 måneder siden) #62254884I might actually sell her off cheap some day, right now I don’t want to display her anyway since she’s a huge spacehog. I definitely appreciate your offer with the ahoge, but she’s in the basement right now and I don’t’ want to search for her in my boxes while it’s so hot outside. Apart from fixing paint transfers I don’t really want to try my hand at this kind of stuff because I suck at it and it’s not like I can’t live with damages at all (especially if they’re my fault).
I sure hope won’t have to move though. X3
Cheap deals are nice and all, but I was in that phase as well and it’s definitely something I regret because I could’ve spent all that money on something I really wanted.
So, how is your new job? :3
I wanted to do my room tour 4 months ago and now my collection is still sort of under construction with delays and stuff.-_-
Once you fix Aoba that might be a good opportunity to unbox Ciel though, just to see how they look next to each other. :3
It’s the same with my collection, I actually put some stuff in my bedroom a few days ago because I needed the space (and I’ve got no rules against spreading my collection). Right now I keep ignoring the fact that there will come a day when I’ll have to sell some stuff (actually bought a figure for a new sub-section yesterday because I like the character).
Poor Rorona is indeed hard to fit, I even sifted through a ton of 1/8 figures some time ago in order to find something fitting, but I just wasn’t satisfied with anything.
That’s a fair point and it’s not like figures will “run away” immediately (unless the release is super limited).
I think being picky is totally fine and a lot of times I’m bothered by reviewers who just aren’t picky enough (it’s not about hating on everything but about being thorough). Yet I’m not from a cheaper era, so while that might be true for you that kind of thinking isn’t really necessary in order to get picky. X3 In the end you just want to see your money’s worth.
I don’t know Kirara Fantasia either, the character is actually from New Game and I really like her (partly because she owns a pet hedgehog). Plus, so far that’s the only decent figure of her and I like the with outfit.^^
Yeah, I was excited for Rorona too and might pick her up in the aftermarket (if she drops), but the promo pictures sure stifled my excitement fast. -_-
My last GSC figure actually has pretty good quality (which I didn’t expect to that extent), so yeah…it’ll be a while before they become like MH. Still, I think they’re working over-capacity and should pace themselves…
I never really paid attention to Griffon because they didn’t really cater to my interests, but it’s still sad to hear a manufacturer going bankrupt.

Maakie (10 måneder siden) #59538829Oh wow, that is not a simple/cheap one either, ouch! Considering you gave ma Aoba, I wouldn't mind trying to make a replacement ahoge for you! If you have size estimates? The gold lining at the front is bad, probably quite hard to color match as well. Another idea is to sell her off cheap and try to rebuy the figure later? About the other damaged ones you mentioned, if you don't intend on trying to fix them, probably selling them would be the best. I had a figure I was delaying getting from storage because she had damage as well, this one: ITEM #12994 , lots of paint transfer and due to age, a lot of white parts have yellow discoloration. About a week ago I decided to grab her from storage and see what I could make from it. I managed to fix the paint transfers better than I originally expected, but the discoloration is a bit ehhhh, can't fix that unless I repaint a huge chunk of this figure, where I'm not really motivated for right now. Anyhow, after fixing her up I put her a bit more to the back of my Komugi display LOL. You won't notice these defects at first glance, only when you get really close to the figure. So yeah, I ended up still liking her, but I just got peace with the fact that she won't be a centerpiece. My Komugi centerpiece is ITEM #5888 with a signed base, maybe replaced with ITEM #26281 once I get to painting that one.
When I was new with collecting I mainly wanted cheap deals and got quite some figures without boxes, which I heavily regret now of course... But yeah good to know you have the boxes stored, that's the best for when you ever have to move. :)
Yes, I will! :) I'll probably make a room tour blog for it as well. :) But tbh, I don't expect to finish in any less time than a year...there is still so much sorting needed and next week I start my new fulltime job which also involves a lot of travel, so bye bye free time. :')
Ciel is indeed not unboxed yet, I kept him sealed since he became a 'feeler' from the moment I saw the first user pictures roll in here and saw how lazy Aniplex got on the smaller details. I think I might fix Aoba's hand faster than I get to unboxing Ciel LOL.
I already know I have more figures and sub-sections than space right now and I really made it a 'rule' that I'm not allowed to put any more detolfs in my house than the figure room + one seperate detolf in the living room (mainly with gaming-related merch). So yeah I'll come to a point in a while where I must let go of some items. The only thing sort of related to Rorona, is that I have a small collection of Crystal Chronicles goods, such as ITEM #11918 , although most of that collection is artbooks ITEM #645768 . Maybe I'll just get a seperate small display case for Rorona and place her somewhere else in the house (although that breaks my 'rules' LOL). I'll think about that when I am further down the road with unboxing. :)
I literally have ITEM #501857 on my wishlist just for the idea that I could display her with Rorona maybe. :P But before buying such expensive figures I first want to be sure how Rorona will fit in the collection. :)
Yeah, I have the exact same with Ciel, he is still a really pretty figure, but it really bothers me what he could have been and to see details just 'skipped' like that. :( Quite a lot of people reviewed the figure and didn't mind the detail loss by the way. I think I'm just extra picky because I am an collector from an 'cheaper' era, so when I pay more than double for a figure than the average value of an figure in my collection I want to see a lot better quality...
I really like the design of that Kirara Fantasia figure, although I am not know with the source material. :) I think in our last PM I also mentioned Rorona, I was excited at her announcement, but am not really interested in her anymore. Maybe I'll buy her one day if she has a good price second hand. If they indeed become 'the next MegaHouse', that might take quite some more years or so. I think it took about 6-7 years for MegaHouse to go from a top manufacturer to one nobody trusts anymore. ^^'' Plus, GSC also has some more status with their Nendoroids and Figma's, so that might delay their downfall even more. I rather not see this happen though and hope for improvement. :( Lots of people also made jokes about Griffon actually closing down, but that news made me sad as well. :(

broken-Toybox (10 måneder siden) #59372464ITEM #414719 is in storage right now since I lost her ahoge while cleaning (I spent hours searching for that damn thing) and the gold lining in the front of her skirt is damaged static.myfigure... (only saw it way past a point where I reasonably could’ve sent a complaint mail to the store). Some time this year my first ITEM #287683 will go into storage as well (damaged the top coat on her hand while removing paint transfers from her hand and the back ribbon on her dress has spots of chipped paint) since I took the opportunity to order a second one. She is one of my favorite figures and I want her to be perfect. <.<
At some point ITEM #464666 & ITEM #549408 will go into storage as well. I don’t like them all that much, space is getting scarcer and the bases have scratches.
Well, at least I keep the boxes of my scale figures, Nendoroids and figmas. For various reasons. Trading figures and prize figures (with a few exceptions) are something else. So if I ever have to move I’m not particularly worried. :3
Your display room looks really great so far. You’ll do a room tour once you feel you’re finished, right (after hours of unboxing I guess)?^^
So for all your worries how does he look next to Aoba so far? If you haven’t unboxed him yet you don’t need to force yourself just for an answer. X3
I hope you don’t run out of space the more sub-sections you create the more difficult it’ll get placing new figures or some that don’t fit a theme.
I’ve had a quick look at your collection, but Rorona seems to be a hard fit indeed since there’s not really much with a similar style or theme. I guess you could always place her at the site since her hand looks like she’s presenting something but that’s not exactly ideal.
Personally, I have her displayed with these 2 (and a clutter of random stuff like a small chest with accessories etc.) ITEM #501857 & ITEM #396852.
The set might not be recommendable anymore but it still looks cute. I ended up displaying ITEM #645881 with ITEM #675637 (naked) and ITEM #548723 with this body ITEM #227063 (just didn’t know where to place her otherwise). So surprisingly there’s a spot open in my homewear shelf now, I wonder what to get. X3
I did, but I don’t plan to display them together. I don’t exactly know what I’m going to do with Astolfo but ITEM #645872 will go into my “dress beauties” shelf ( so far only occupied by ITEM #287683 & ITEM #464791, but Jeanne, ITEM #740175 & ITEM #603996 will join them).
Wow, that’s just… wow… and they really thought they’d get away with that? He still looks good but that’d bother me so much. <.< As long as you still feel good about the figure though that’s all that really matters. :3
That Suzuya does indeed look very bland and standard for being WHS…
Well, GSC… I did preorder one of their figures today (been waiting forever) ITEM #675847, but I feel less enthusiastic about their stuff in general. That’s especially true for Nendoroids. I’ll probably pass on Rorona for example, since the Nendo overall and the parts are underwhelming. Makes me kinda sad though since I was actually excited about her (guess Totori has to stay alone).
I still think they’re a few steps away from being as bad as MH (yeah my last experiences with them were abysmal), but the direction is indeed worrying.

Maakie (10 måneder siden) #59071292Aww, which damaged figure is in the storage right now? I get sad when I hear stuff like that.
I think you also keep all the boxes of the figures you buy, right? That's the best advice I can give for when you have to move with a figure collection. Put all of them back in their boxes. With my first time moving with a 'small' collection (about 50 figures) I just thought that wrapping them all in lots of bubble wrap and putting them in plastic storage containers instead of normal moving boxes, would be the best...lots of them ended up having all kinds of damages when I got to putting them on display. :( But now another 3 moves later (and high chance of a 4th in the upcoming 5 years...), it's just...take your time to put everything back in the boxes and everything will go OK. If they can survive from Japan to here in that box, they can survive a moving company. ;)
This is my most recent picture of the display room: PICTURE #2196205 + PICTURE #2196190 . I'm very satisfied with the lights and cabinets! I just have loooots of work left in unboxing and the rest of the room is pretty much a mess LOL. There is also supposed to be a 'lounge' spot couch and some shelves with miscellanious collectibles, but first to get to unboxing all those figures... :') I actually worked a bit on unboxing yesterday and decided on 3 figures and 2 big plushies to also go and sell. When they are sold it's almost a full box less in storage, so I'm looking forward to that saved space. :P
With Ciel it's actually both! Both that I'm not sure on how to display (especially because I rather not buy other (Kuroshitsuji) items just so he has companions) and my disappointment with the QC... But yeah, it's probably the best Ciel to ever exist... Normally characters have tons of dropdead-gorgeous GK's, but not Ciel LOL. So that specfic prepainted PCV is probably the best we're going to get ever.
Yeah that shelf has been shuffled last weekend as well. I now have two shelves, one with the more...not-100%-human characters and the others with indeed the tattered/leathery look. Seems like I indeed need to make a 'posh' shelf, LOL! So I guess when I have Aoba I'm going to see if that works out. I also have a really hard time with placing ITEM #61401 in my collection. I love the figure and never want to get rid of her, but at the same I don't have a good spot for her. I don't have much fantasy/(J)RPG-themed stuff anymore. ^^'' I guess I'll put her together with my ITEM #1451 , who I also can't let go. :P
I have a soft spot for onsen figures, because a long time ago I used to hunt this set: PICTURE #46947 , although it's not really recommendable anymore by todays' standards.
Yeah, unless my next move comes faster than expected, I could take years more to work on my unboxing/perfect room. X3 I prefer taking my time and making it ~perfect~. :)
I'm taking it you ordered those two figures? They won't be 'bad' figures for sure. I think ITEM #645872 is going to look fine, with ITEM #624644 I'm a bit more worried at small details turning out well. To give an example of small detailing going 'wrong' on Aniplex Ciel, there was supposed to be this really intricate detail on his hat: PICTURE #1408554 , which on the actual figures looks like: PICTURE #1759254 "Hey you guys are OK with us just slapping a silver blob on there, right?". I'm used to prototypes being prettier than the final product, but a lot of these small things are just 'bleh'. :P But luckily his face, the overall pose and the base are gorgeous. The figure also comes with this cute mini comic made by the original mangaka about the cast members seeing the figure LOL. So yeah things like that make me fuzzy about the figure again. :')
Yes! I'm looking greatly forward to Aoba! I also hope the payment has already arrived or will arrive soon~
I was surprised to see a WHS label at ITEM #675852 recently, as that doesn't look anything more special than your average scaled figure as well? And yeah, GSC is in general on a decline. If about 2-3 years ago people would talk about them, they would put them on levels close to the quality of Alter and Flare, but right now GSC is dropping hard, even with their more 'simple' stuff like Nendoroids. I hope they're not going to become the new MegaHouse. :S
ITEM #414719 is in storage right now since I lost her ahoge while cleaning (I spent hours searching for that damn thing) and the gold lining in the front of her skirt is damaged static.myfigure...
