Hey, fellow mfc-members and welcome
to another review!

This time I’ll be reviewing a very special figure of a very beloved character (not only by me but by many). Namely the 10th anniversary version of the wisewolf Holo ITEM #525327 from Spice & Wolf made by Revolve. (。・ω・。)ノ♡
After watching the announcement forever and after an awful lot of delays and an agonizing wait, I can finally hold this beauty in my hands. She is based on an illustration by Ayakura Juu who did the artwork for the Spice & Wolf light novels.
So, without further ado let’s get to the actual review.

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
Holo comes in a cardboard box showing what seems to be an evening/night sky over a field of wheat similar to the illustration, which can be found on the back. The front top and one side have windows that allow a look at the figure, though the box doesn’t lack pictures of it. I’m usually not a fan of boxes plastered with pictures of the figure, but these are incorporated very nicely. The round ones in particular as they feature the same dot decorations framing them as the windows. The bottom is plain white showing some additional warnings.

There’s nothing noteworthy about the blister this time, but it’s doing its job.

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
The base is a round disc of shaded grass enforcing the outdoors theme of the illustration. Said piece of grass is framed by a white piece of plastic that makes the whole thing look like a sort of pedestal (boy this reminds me of my very first review for ITEM #501860, because the base was similar). No matter how I look at it it looks weird to me. The grass itself looks flattened but is still nicely sculpted, but the darker shading is a bit grainy up close.

Holo gets attached with one foot to a metal peg on a clear plastic (meh~) wedge and another plastic peg. Since her weight is well distributed, she doesn’t wobble (or only slightly).

Holo looks every bit like a young lass out for a night of drink and merrymaking. Maybe a harvest festival? This figure has a lot of motion and is plenty dynamic with all the swirling and twirling, it almost looks like she is dancing.

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
The joy this figure conveys is almost contagious. Holo shows us a big toothy smile where you can even see her fang. With her slightly flushed cheeks and glazed eyes it’s obvious that this isn’t her first drink (or at least that’s what I’d expect from an infamous glutton like her). I also really like that they actually sculpted the mouth in such detail.

It’s evident on her fringe already but it applies to the rest of her hair as well, there’s slightly shiny finish to it that makes it look really well-groomed (though it’s actually her tail she’s taking care of). The hair sculpt in general looks really great with the strands fluttering in the wind. Besides the sculpt and the finish subtle shading was applied to the hair to give it more depth.
Still, it isn’t perfect. The seams between the different hair parts could be smoother and there are a few strands that look like they were added later, resulting in more seams. Plus, there’s a small scratch at the back of her hair that’s exclusive to my copy (or so I hope). Another thing of note is that Holo’s ears aren’t covered (as is often the case throughout the story so as not to give herself away) and incorporated into the hair. The fluff inside the ears looks kinda cute just like the lighter tips, but overall, I feel they could be a tiny bit more detailed.

Holo is wearing a green dress that really meshes well with her pretty auburn hair that crinkles plenty matching her dynamic pose. Around her neck she’s wearing her signature drawstring pouch containing her wheat. Said pouch is detailed enough, especially the ribbon, but sadly half-hidden behind her hair. On a side note Holo also has a sculpted collarbone and neck tendons that were almost impossible to capture. -_-
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260201.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260202.jpeg

Apart from the wealth of crinkles accentuating how the dress hugs Holo’s slender figure there are also very realistic looking seams (some with stitches) on the dress.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260203.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260204.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260205.jpeg

In her motion the dress slid over one of her shoulders enforcing the lively atmosphere the figure creates. Just like the rest of the dress the sleeves have plenty of wrinkles, which apparently weren’t sanded down completely as there are a few small and unintended seam lines to be found there. The small bits of excess plastic on her right sleeve aren’t nice to look at either but given how tiny they are they’re neglectable.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260206.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260207.jpeg

Holo’s fingers are slender and feminine which adds a nice contrast to the rather rough looking wooden mug. Her finger tips are slightly pink, and her nails have a clear shiny polish. A lot of care went into creating said mug, the shading and sculpt give it a realistic wooden texture and the shiny finish looks like it was lacquered. The black hoops(?) only add to that impression. The contents (not sure if it’s ale or beer, but I definitely would’ve preferred wine for her) spilling out of the mug really fits the motion and looks really great.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260208.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260209.jpeg

The dress is held in place by a red sash that creates a nice contrast to the green dress. Again, the sculpt is fantastic, the folds and crinkles make it looks pretty realistic. Even the gold clasp looks a bit weathered since the gold paint isn’t perfectly smooth.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260210.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260212.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260213.jpeg
As a nice accent there’s a clear green bead at the end of the sash and a little pattern on the fabric.

Just slightly below the sash is Holo’s pride and joy flowing freely, her magnificent tail. The tail has the same subtly shiny finish as her hair and the sculpt is just as great with few miniscule hiccups here and there. Even with the wealth of texture and definition to it the real highlight is the cute white tip. :3
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260214.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260218.jpeg

A large part of the dynamic impression comes from Holo’s skirt flowing upwards and the amount of detail added to the sculpt here is really impressive. The pattern at the rim makes the skirt look less simplistic (design-wise) and creates another nice little contrast with the red.
For all it’s benefits there are some oopsies here too (the paint inside the skirt is pretty sloppy and there are few excess bit of plastic), but they’re mostly well hidden.

NSFW…
View spoilerHide spoiler Under her skirt Holo wears plain white panties which also feature a rough looking seam, giving them a fairly realistic look.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260224.jpeg

Her slender legs are a sight to behold as well, though largely hidden by her skirt. Kind of a pity since they’re nicely detailed in certain areas like the knee.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260225.jpeg

Holo is wearing simple green shoes matching the dress with a red line. They too have folds (albeit not as pronounced as the dress since the material is thicker) creating a realistic impression and you can even see stiches where the sole connects to the rest. Another nice eyecatcher are the leather anklets with the silver clasps she’s wearing.

Now for some size comparisons...
Holo is listed as a 1/8 scale and reaches a height of roughly 19,5cm (that’s including the ears). Her character height is stated to be 160cm so she falls a tiny bit short in this rendition (but it could be worse).
Placing her next to other figures of the same scale like ITEM #61401 & ITEM #549370 doesn’t pose problems (unless you have a really irregular one).
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260231.jpeg
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260232.jpeg

Small 1/7 scales like ITEM #501860 may work too, but with Holo’s petite figure the difference in body proportions will be immediately obvious.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260233.jpeg

Even figures on the small end of the 1/7 like ITEM #549592 scale might prove problematic already if they’re normally sized characters.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260234.jpeg

Sitting figures like this little drunkard ITEM #740168 may or may not work, but that needs to be tested.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260235.jpeg

A normal 1/7 scale ITEM #287683 standing upright won’t fit her as the size difference is painfully obvious (maybe you can do something about it with clever placing).
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/20/2260236.jpeg

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
So, what can I say…. This is the first Holo figure I own that I actually want to keep. The flaws are minimal and neglectable (yes, I may be a bit blind when it comes to her) and it’s just so fun to look at the drunk little wisewolf. The long wait was definitely worth it and I’m beyond happy to finally own her. ♡(.◜ω◝.)♡

That's it for this review! Thanks for reading, I hope you liked it! ^^
If you don’t mind, I’d love some constructive criticism,
but if you don’t feel like posting any your thoughts on the figure are also very welcome. :3
Also, if there's anything in my collection you'd like to see a review of feel free to shoot me a message or something.^^

victorviper1 år siden#64147190This is definitely the liveliest Holo figure that's available! I also like how the design of the figure is more in keeping with her appearance in the manga.
Nice review as always!
Thanks (as always)! :3
She sure is and they did a fantastic job with it. I used to prefer the anime style actually, but I kind of think differently now after rereading the LN and manga.^^

I love Holo figures.
I think Revolve did a great job here.
Thanks for the compliment! :3
I love Holo as a character but I haven't really been satisfied with her figures so far (already sold 3 of them).

I don't collect this figure but it was still a joy to read your review.
Awwww, thank you that means a lot to me! ♡(.◜ω◝.)♡
Our choices of characters and figures rarely aligns but I still really enjoy reading your reviews too. :3

kururin1 år siden#64113663Having read both yours and Chloe-tsundere's review, I think I can say with confidence that this Holo is one of the best ones available at this moment. Revolve did an excellent job translating Ayakura's illustration into figure form - Holo's charm is truly apparent here.
But, as for the scratch on her hair - are you referring to the one in this photo? picture/2260200...
I looked at my copy and didn't see a scratch like that, so, like you said, it may be a defect unique to yours, unfortunately. :(
Great review as always, though! ^^
Thank you so much! ^^
For me she definitely is, though I've never seen the older Holos in person since I'm only collecting for 2 1/2 years and their prices were crazy already when I started. Still, I love this one since she looks fantastic and captures Holo so well.

Yeah that's the one and I expected it to be unique to mine. It's just a small scratch and it's not like it's terribly visible or as if I'd sell this figure off so whatever. :3
