Hello MFC! Today we are going to look at the Japanese "Bubble Bath Candy" kit made by company Heart. This is a variant of the very famous 'Toilet Candy' i.pinimg.com/or... , of which I was certain someone reviewed it on here, but I can't find the article anymore, a short mention of it you can find in this blog BLOG #25488 (thanks for pointing it out NEFERE !). Originally this kit was part of my recent Japanese snacks, drink and candy loot: BLOG #45603 .

This kit first makes you 'build' the bathtub (or toilet) and then you can fill it with foamy soda/candy. I wasn't completely sure what to expect regarding the flavor, but I was pretty certain it would be quite sugary as I've made other Heart kits that included a soda and those were very sweet.

Packaging

https://i.ibb.co/WvR0y2Z/IMG-4587.jpg

Very cute and colorful packaging (as with most of these candy sets). The cover shows the 4 options that are possible to get. I was hoping to get the orange one because the eyes were so cute!

https://i.ibb.co/tDnXvBV/IMG-4588.jpg

The back of the packaging explains the assembly of the bathtub and how to make the foamy part work.

https://i.ibb.co/jDTmyGk/IMG-4589.jpg

One of the sides mentions the other uses for the bathtub once you are finished with the kit. Although the ideas are super cute, and I ended up keeping the bathtub...I am still not using it for anything else, haha!

https://i.ibb.co/LSxmnFY/IMG-4590.jpg

The other side mentions some short descriptions about the characters. My Japanese is not that great, but from what I can understand:
White = An athletic tub that loves playing soccer
Pink = A very pretty female tub that gets good grades in school
Blue = A transfer student tub from the USA
Orange = Friendly tub that loves ducks

I am not sure, but I think all the tubs also go to school together? It doesn't make sense, but it's pretty cute!

The contents & making the kit

https://i.ibb.co/mNcJtJF/IMG-4591.jpg

Opening the kit...the contents actually look a bit underwhelming.

I ended up getting the blue tub, the transfer student from the USA.

Included in the set are:

https://i.ibb.co/f0h2p5N/IMG-4592.jpg

- A sticker set for the tub.

Completely optional to use them, but with the adhesive type can only be used once.

https://i.ibb.co/vkgvZFw/IMG-4593.jpg

- Blue yogurt flavored foam-powder
- Green soda-powder
- A straw for mixing/drinking

https://i.ibb.co/CtM6Csv/IMG-4594.jpg

- A plastic tray for the pump-parts (on the right I already removed one of the pieces from the tray)

https://i.ibb.co/X4BB0Lw/IMG-4595.jpg

- The bathtub itself is one big plastic piece.

I cut the other plastic parts loose from the frame and it was time for assembly!

https://i.ibb.co/7RnJm5f/IMG-4596.jpg

First up, I didn't find it clear how to attach the pump at first. You need to really carefully slide it into the tub making sure all the parts 'click' correctly into place. This is more complicated than it looks on the picture and in the instructions.

https://i.ibb.co/GVkhckL/IMG-4598.jpg

As I didn't really have any other ideas for the stickers, I applied them all on the tub.

https://i.ibb.co/9c5Q7K5/IMG-4599.jpg

I filled the tub with water to the indicated line.

https://i.ibb.co/4ZpwGVc/IMG-4600.jpg

Mixed the green powder in there.

https://i.ibb.co/TPZ3tGX/IMG-4602.jpg

After some stirring it became a clear green color.

https://i.ibb.co/p4B3LKg/IMG-4603.jpg

I loaded the pump with the blue powder packet, so it was ready to foam, and...

https://media1.tenor.com/images/274e3bb93facc9d279d56a09451b953d/tenor.gif

...NO!

I think I applied too much force (this kit is meant for children's hands I guess), and the whole pump came loose...

https://i.ibb.co/j5Hb9Wg/IMG-4606.jpg

For a while the green soda in the tub looked calm, but then the tub started foam a lot because of the other powder that now accidentally entered the mixture!

https://i.ibb.co/mzWNSYs/IMG-4607.jpg

Once the worst foaming was over, I did a 2nd attempt at attaching the pump and trying to create foam from there.

End result

https://i.ibb.co/C6BrfdM/IMG-4608.jpg

Ta-dah! The completed set how it is supposed to be!

The pump can now properly pump the foam, but as I got a bit scared because of my earlier experience, I took it easy...

The taste

This kit was advertised as 'soda flavor with yogurt foam'.

The actual taste was a very sweet bubblegum soda with the foam rather tasting like sour lemon instead of sour yogurt.

So was the flavor good? Hrmm I don't know. It was incredibly sweet and I preferred the taste of the foam over the soda itself. I would have liked it more if it actually tasted like the sticker on the bath tub: cola soda with foamy lemon flavor on top.

Recommendable?

It's a tough one for me to answer if it's a recommendable kit. Sure, it was fun to build and it's also funny to see the foamy effect, but the actual building and mixing parts of this kit don't take very long. I guess this kit is only worth it's money/fun if you're a kid. I will only recommend it to adults if they can think of a fun purpose for the reusable tub.

Finish

I hope you enjoyed this food blog, and as promised, for every new blog, I will fix an earlier one. I decided to fix upon request:

Thanks for reading my blog! My next blog will probably be a loot blog again!

Maakie1 måned siden#80816025I googled and it seems like the rainbow ones are cherry chocolate?
Good to know, seems like I might dare to buy a Puku Puku in the future again. xD

Glad I could help. :D

Maakie2 måneder siden#80730101Yeah I wouldn't rebuy this one (or a similar one from the line like the toilets), as it's more about looks and a bit of building, than the actual 'making food with your hands'.
Oh nooooooooooo about the one you linked DON'T, I REPEAT, DON'T buy their mint flavor!! I mentioned/reviewed it here: BLOG #45603 , in short...it was horrible!
Did you ever try other flavors of Puku Puku? I am now really scared to even buy a more generic flavor like chocolate...

tsukky_2 måneder siden#80673483Thanks for sharing your experience with DIY sweets again. Now I think it's more focused on look than flavor. I won't bother buying and making these sweets myself if it tastes mostly like sugar xDD I would rather buy Japanese kit kats for example :D And recently I discovered wafers with sweet filing in shape of fish.

I tasted more flavors of these fish :D xD

LittlePisces2 måneder siden#80672559These are definitely more appealing than those toilet kits. The idea of a toilet full of pop is nasty to me. Pretty cool that the process is like a model kit! Such a missed opportunity that the flavor isn't cola. I like that idea of yours!
Out of all the bathtubs, the orange one would be my choice. The concept of a bathtub loving ducks is cute and wholesome. Too bad orange isn't my favorite color. Would've preferred a purple tub. Its character would be it loves the smell the lavenders and the flavor of their drink is grape soda. Did I just make an OC?

Bathtub OC confirmed haha. I wouldn't be surprised if they make more lines of these bathtubs, just like the toilets also getting country-specific variants. I like your idea for lavender-chan~ :)

I think the toilet is funnier, but this one is definitely more decent and more collectible for the projects you can have with it afterwards. :)

victorviper2 måneder siden#80670762Somehow these drink mixes seem to end up always being more palatable than the solid foods. I guess ultimately the drinks are just sugar water, and it's kind of hard to mess that up.
I like how the different tubs have personalities attached to them.

I did have some in the past with near non-drinkable flavors to the soda, I can't find the matching blog right now, but I remember one being bright blue and I think blueberry flavored. But with a bad drink it's easier to just drink it anyway (it's mostly only a couple of sips in portion size).

I'm actually a bit disappointed for not getting the orange one, but the blue one was my second choice!

lesser-robot-cat2 måneder siden#80635405A tub is much cuter than a toilet, but agggggh, the foam! I might try one of those things someday, but they still scare me! The flavors sound interesting. (I'd be tempted to put a figure into the foam, but I know that's sugar, not soap, lol...)

Why do they scare you? :D This one is pretty easy to complete, if you were talking about difficulty!

And oh no! I would definitely not put a figure into the soda-foam, but you are giving me ideas (as I kept the bath tub) to maybe fill it up with normal soap and try to find which one of my figures fits best in it! :)

kuailiang2 måneder siden#80635757Honestly I read these to see the otter at the end and I'm slightly disappointed this kit wasn't disgusting

I'm sorry, I'll make sure the next one will taste disgusting. I'll buy the sweetest one out there!

BlazeDazzleDusk2 måneder siden#80651727Those are such fun ideas for a type of sweet, the transfer student bath and the little backstories for each of them are really funny

Yeah, I guess it helps with selling to kids to have these kind of backstories? It's very cute!

Nefere2 måneder siden#80652812I was happy to search and find a toilet candy review here on MFC BLOG #25488 It's a loot review so it contains only few sentences about the kit.

Hrmmm...it's not the same. There was someone that made a blog in a similar style to how I wrote this one and it was all about the toilet candy... :( However, thanks for finding that one! I'll reference it anyway as it's better than nothing!
