Hello everyone,

With this new article I wanted to share with you my pleasure of having found my Holy Grail figure recently. This article is between a diary and a review. I have classified it as a diary because the text that will follow is closest to that category. I won't go into all the details of the figure but I will tell the story of finding this rare beauty. However I will still put scores in the end.

SOME PICTURES ARE NSFW, I'll put them into spoilers.

The figure I'm talking about today is High School DxD Born - Toujou Koneko - 1/7 made by Pulchra ITEM #331729, released in 2016 as standard and re-released in 2017 as Limited.

The story

I began collecting figures in late 2018 and from the beginning I wished a figure of Toujou Koneko from High School DxD.
I directly fell in love with this Pulchra figure and wanted to find one. But since she is made with resin, she is very fragile and the pretty poor packaging increases the risk of breakage during transit. So she became very hard to find like new and, because of that, her price increased quickly.

In around 20 months of research, I only saw a couple ones popping out on the web:
- One on eBay in US last year, priced at 360$. The time I needed to ask the seller a few questions (especially about protecting the package) was enough for me to lose the sale: she was sold in a few hours!
- Two damaged ones this year, one here on MFC and one badly damaged on eBay, cheap but not interesting
- One here on MFC like new 2 months ago in US but in the end we did not make a deal

And finally, one month ago I found one pre-owned on Suruga-ya in Japan at a very good price. The descripton was very brief, only saying "pre-owned" and with no pictures of the figure. It was risky to purchase it but I didn't want to ask questions and lose the deal again while waiting for the answers. Plus I had to use a proxy and I never did that before, so it was a stressful purchase for me!

At that price I was afraid it would be damaged, in addition to the risk of breakage during transit. But I read plenty of good reviews about Suruga-ya and the good condition of their pre-owned items, so I took the risk. I choosed Buyee as a proxy and used their protective packaging option.

So in final, with that option, the EMS shipment and the custom fees here in Europe, she became pretty expensive, but I was aware of that.
The main thing is that she arrived in an EXCEPTIONAL condition! She was basically like new. So did the box. I couldn't be more happy.
Her tie broke during transit, but it would have been a miracle if it didn't break. That's the first piece to break in this figure and it was easy to fix. I think that it wasn't broken before shipment, otherwise they would have put it in a small bag inside the blister.

All the other fragile parts (the tail, the wings, the arms and the hands) were intact. I can say that it was my best deal as a figure collector.

Now the figure herself!

The design is great! Koneko is a demon and Pulchra choosed to show her in her seasonal appearance where she has cat ears and tail. So Kawaii!

The pose does her justice: she is pretty sexy but without beeing too sexual as I find that is too often the case with High School DxD figures.
With her tsundere look in addition, the general impression is very enjoyable.

Here are some overall pics of her:

Basically I like her painting, and there is a nice shiny touch on her suit and her eyes.

Another good point: some have bad hair texture, like a "grainy" hair. Fortunately this one doesn't.
Her demon wings are also beautifully designed.

I have absolutely no complaint about her sculpt. The details are very fine, especially the fingers. I guess it's possible thanks to the resin material because none of my PVC figures reaches this level of finesse, even high end ones.

My only complaint is about the base: it's just a simple transparent disc, and way too small, so that the figure is not well balanced and can fall easily. It's a shame for a fragile resin figure!

In conclusion I find that Puchra did a great job with this figure. I love her design: Pulchra made interesting choices which are definitely the strong points of this figure.

A lot of owners are upset because of her fragility, and I understand that. I read so much negative comments about this figure because it is fragile and the packaging is poor.
But whatever we say about the fragility of the material, the details are impressive and I support Pulchra for the choices they made here.

I have already been seduced once by the design of another Pulchra figure, Dagashi Kashi - Shidare Hotaru - 1/7 ITEM #419433, recreating my favourite illustration of her, and no doubt that those two Pulchra figures are on my top favourites in my collection.

However I admit that my very positive experience required a little luck.

Unfortunately we are not lucky every time in this hobby, and in a future article I will talk about a very bad trade experience that I am going through now with the beautiful figure of Yae Sakura Mandarin Gown made by Apex.

skylinedo10 måneder siden#83313653'grats on Koneko. I love this figure so much I bought 3 of her!
1 broken (gets displayed)
2 just in case (bc have you seen that aftermarket price?)
your pics only slightly do her justice. in person, she's stunning on the level of a garage kit magazine-photoshoot build.
I strongly suggest you find a way to extend the base by securing an old cd to her tiny unstable base. My first one fell over b/c earthquake or somebody here managed to shake the house enough to fell her, snapping her tie.

Thank you! Glad to meet annother lover of this figure.

Aww, 3 just in case?? Awesome! You made the good choice at the right time. Unfortunately for me it was already too late when I discovered this figure. So that yes, of course I have seen the aftermarket price and cried a lot lol.

Yes, you're right about my pictures, she must be seen in real. And I have to take other pics with a better light.

I have already thought about a solution to secure the base, maybe a plexiglas disc or something like that. I am not a fan of adding a cd, I guess the shiny effect would be disturbing. Did you do that? Do you have a picture of the result?

And fortunately I have no earthquakes in my country !

Angel_Vivaldi10 måneder siden#83258219What a nice figure! Looks cute as hell and if it wasnt so much of a bitch to find id be adding it to my wished. The base is the one thing i really like about it though, its small as hell. Great find and gratz on the secured grail.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it.
Edit: most of the ones I've seen popping out were in US, so maybe it would be easyer for you to find one than for me.

BuyMyFigs10 måneder siden#83258122I remember having her preordered from Amiami and being super excited to get her, until she actually arrived and everything from the tips of her wings to her tail, arm, and head were all snapped off. As much as I loved her, I did not regret getting a refund, because I ended up getting the 1/4th scale Koneko cast off and she is in my opinion perfection. I do still love this figure's design, but I just can't afford to take the risk in trying to get her, plus as you stated, the price is high. Good find for you though!
Aww that's unbelievable that yours came so damaged, I'm so sorry for you. Luckily, you got your refund and another amazing Koneko figure! This 1/4 FREEing is also beautiful and has become even more valuable.

SebastianLover10 måneder siden#83257353Congratulations! I've been there with obtaining your life's achievement figure. Luck is honestly a huge part of grail hunting and really fuels the fomo fears, although in my case most of which really worked out. I'm not into DxD but she looks pretty cute or I'm just a sucker for wings lol. Ngl, I'm surprised to see a halfway decent Pulchra figure. In my experience they're not good at all. Maybe this is their magnus opus lol.
Thank you! Glad to hear that everything worked for you too in finding your ultimate figure.
I also appreciate that you are pleasantly surprised by this figure. I understand your feeling about Pulchra, I don't deny that they've had quality problems, and to be honest some owners had the same kind of bad experience with this figure, too.
