[size=large]Introduction:
My newest review is based on the latest figure in my collection - Dead Master by GSC!

I am more than pleased to get her, and even though some things are scored low, I still really enjoyed this figure, especially the dark theme she has going for her.

But more of that in my in-depth review!

[size=large]Sculpting: (9/10)

This is a great figure in the sculpting department. She has a great face and the hair is superbly sculpted, right down to the curls. The base's sculpt is a winner here, and is the star of the sculpt, but the rest of her is very fine indeed. Her clothes are finely-detailed too, with an excellent sense of flow and the folds in the top are very nicely done indeed. the holes in her feet fit perfectly into the pegs on the base, and they're not tight, so have no fear of them snapping inside the holes, unless you apply too much pressure, of course.

Where the sculpt would have received a 10 from me, the fact of the matter is that the extra finger to hold the skull in her hand is very loose in the hole. So much so that it won't stay put and falls out very easily. I had to put some yellow-tack in the hole to hold it for the photo I took so that it would stay put, so it lowers the score for the sculpt. That was the only reason for the lower score - otherwise an excellent sculpt, worthy of GSC.

To see her in more detail than the one I shared on Tsuki-Board here, go check out the larger photo here!

[size=large]Painting: (10/10)

Once again GSC has outdone themselves with this figure! Just check out the face here to see the wonderful job they did of her! I am really stoked by this figure's paint job, and I love the paint work on the base especially. The finite details of the tiles and battle damage shown in the painting of the base show off the skills at GSC wonderfully. There is no bleeding of paint over the edges of parts, and the pale colour is a nice effect against the darkness of her clothes.

If I could lower the score just a tiny fraction, then I would do so for the fact that on her left leg (at the top) she has a bit of paint scraped off, but I didn't lower the score, as the rest of the figure's paint job makes that a small thing to worry about.

[size=large]Posing: (10/10)

Well, while not pose-able like a Nendoroid (and one soon will be released of her), the pose itself is a great one. The sense of smugness inherent in her stance is a nice saturation point of her personality and gives away what type of being Dead Master truly is. I would not be surprised if I catch her some day liking her claws! ^^

The way she can hold her chains or a skull is a nice addition to her pose-ability, and one that scores her well in this department. For a static standing figure, her pose is excellent and really brings to the fore her evil tendencies. Actually this pose was one of the reasons why I decided to pre-order her when I did. Aside from the cuteness of her. ^_~

[size=large]Base: (10/10)

This is far from any ordinary base! This base is the prime reason for wanting this figure, as it's such a great rendition of a battle-scarred floor that has been eaten alive by the war between one-time friends. The way it is gouged in the middle and broken at the edges speaks of the terrific force with which it must have been damaged. It's really this type of back-story and history behind such a base that really makes it score so high. There aren't too many figure bases out there that can bespeak such a wealth of history or a kind of presence that makes us wonder what caused such a thing to happen.

On a personal note, I shall be really pleased to some time soon add the original B★RS to this set up and make some real good shots. :)

[size=large]Packaging: (8/10)

Not exactly the greatest packaging out there, but it gets the job done. The box is sturdy, made out of 2mm thick corrugated cardboard, with a funny little three-sided tab system for the top lid, kind of like those you find on the old Sega Master System (shows my age, eh?). There are photos of our dead Dead Master on all sides, with windows on the front, sides and top. Her details are on the back as per usual, and the logo of her name on the bottom of the box.

The tray has two parts to it: one for the figure, chains, base and skull; one for the scythe and wings. The tray comes apart quite reasonably, but the second tray once the tape is cut will easily fall back out from the larger tray. Not too much of a hassle to put it back in the box however - just hold said tray together with the larger and slip back into the box. Since the box and stuff are your standard fare, they get a lower score.

[size=large]Enjoyment: (9/10)

What with the re-release of the original B★RS coming this month, the enjoyment should experience growth by ten-fold, I suspect. In the meantime, I shall sit back and gaze upon the lovely Dead Master and be glad that I can share her vision with others of like mind as they do the same with theirs. I don't buy large scale figures as often as I used to, so having her here is a nice change, and one that I can safely say is a good thing to experience. As stated above, you can't pose her like the Nendo or figma versions, but she is still a sight to behold, and one I couldn't help but recommend to those even remotely interested in her.

[size=large]Conclusion:

In conclusion, this is a great figure to have, and one that really gives the shelf I have a certain flair for the darker side of figures. Her pale skin and dark clothing are a lot different from the regular types of figures I have, and I hope that the other also helps to make this collection even better to look at. As I said in the section just above, anyone who is willing to buy this would not be disappointed in such a nice figure. She is very photogenic and definitely makes the collection more diverse. I will never be disappointed by her, and can only recommend her highly.

Thank you for reading my review! ^^

Yes, I actually have seen it now. Mine is vague only because the box isn't under direct light, so I didn't notice it earlier...

David_McnabWell, the large one is way too big for the review page, and the face one is easily seen just by checking out the link. But I had intended to show them in the page, but was distracted by little nieces while writing the review, so my bad! :P

And the box never glowed for me...

All the skulls on Dead Master's box glow in the dark. It was part of the box design. Mikatan even mentioned it in her blog and FooBarBaz has pictures of it up on his review.

PlasticFantasticIt would have been nice if the photos had been posted in the review rather than links.

I'm surprised you did not mention how her box glows in the dark! XD

Well from postal packaging to report in the daytime all wouldn't allow for it to be seen by light absorption or simply by visibility
