What about the Madoka figmas? They came with tons of stuff and were only around 3k. Compare that to ITEM #287750 or ITEM #583073 which are double the price without double the accessories. I think the line is a little more blurred with figmas, because like you pointed out there are some with way more accessories than older entries ever had. But looking at scales, the problem is a bit more clear imo.

Tons of stuff as in excessive replicas of the one mold?

This makes me sad knowing that poseable figures at a 1/10 scale used to be only 2500 Yen. Now we have 4000 Yen Beach Queens that don't move or 10K ones made from polystone. That and Figmas seen to be twice and much for smaller. Strange how figures and pricing have changed in the last 6 years alone.

Massive generalizations of this level is what annoys me most with other figure collectors... I have a figma, Itsuki Koizumi from 2008... He was 2,500 Yen and came with two faces and a set of hands... Yeah, figma's have had next to nothing from the start. Contrast that with figma #300, Gilgamesh who comes with a whole second torso with arms, three faces, TWO fringe parts, chains, his signature sword, TWO sets of hands and a folded arms part, plus being the same height as Itsuki (Not smaller)... For 9,000Y.

So value for what you get in the set is relatively the same.

But let's say that isn't fair because one has nothing and the other is basically two figures worth of stuff? Let's compare with modern figma's who come with minimal accessories. The Osomatsu figma's for example, each only come with two faces and a set of hands... For 3,000Y each. Again, more or less the same value. In 9 years over Itsuki, that's an increase of 600Y... Although the only real difference in the figures is Itsuki's height over the Osomatsu figma's.

Plus you've got inflation and changes in design choices, license rights, manufacturing, distribution and advertising ect which explains the differences in pricing and value over a period of nine years... So before you and others start bitching about how figures are worse now and cost more than old ones, just think, don't bitch. :)
